Throughout the video we chose to have her alone as the isolation she experiences in her relationship is reflected in the entire music video.

Dictionary Definition
Setting
Setting's and Locations play a huge role in film and can set certain expectations to viewers. we gave three main locations throughout the muic video.

The first location was a walkway to a forest, which we managed to capture most of our shots. The second location was inisde a bedroom which could give a personal touch to the setting; as its almosts as if your inside the "artists" bedroom. the last location was an empty classrrom which we transformed into a black room and hung fairy lights as a back drop.

In The Synth-pop Genre...
Settings always feature rural areas like forests, beaches/derserts and many clubs. a club would be very difficult to film mainly due to age restrictions. one common place we did film was a forest. i think forests are a popular choicce beaucse they are very natural and as synthpop music is seen as emotionless and dull, which is ironoic as forests are the opposite.

Lighting
Throughout our music video, we switched between low-key and high-key lighting. This creates differentiation between the scenes and it is made clear to the viewer that they are in contrast to each other. Light itself connotes purity and angelic goodness. dark scenes are most obviously associated with evil and power. these connotations both apply to our "character" as she is seen as pure and as the victim as she has been "abused in the this relationship". However it could be showing that she is not innocent in this relationship but this is not what we wanted to portray. we wanted to show that she has reclaimed power after leaving.

In The Synth-pop Genre...
There is often low-key lighting used in synth-pop music videos and they feature neon bright lighting, majority of the time. We originally wanted to incorporate this and strobe lights into our music video but ultimately decided against it as it didn't fit the theme of our music video. Here are some shots from different music videos showcasing this.

Costume, Hair & Make-up
For costume, we wanted to keep it casual and how girls dress in this day in age. We wanted the target audience to be able to relate easily with the actress as it may increase emotions the viewer feels when watching the music video, if this is the case. We also wanted the costume to fit the narrative and settings so we created them accordingly.

In the home, the first costume we had our actress wear very comfortable and laid back clothing, jeans and a jumper. We wanted to show that she was comfortable in her own home. Hair was open and loose with a flower headband. Make-up was very subtle and is not very visible as many shots are in black and white.

In the forest, we asked our actress to bring a long maxi dress as it many shots would be long shots and capture the whole dress. In addition, being outdoors would allow the dress to flow more and create a better effect. Hair is flowing and is again wearing the flower headband. makeup is more visible here, just simple foundation and mascara.

Finally, in the last setting, the classroom her entire costume was not as important as the main focus would be on the upper half of her body as much of the shots taken here would be close ups or mid shots. For this reason we asked her to wear a "party" top. Hair is half up and half down in some shots and Makeup is much more visible here, we had here do a bit more make-up for these scenes.

Costumes in some instances can be "very wild" and others, actors and actresses may dress normally like normal people do in that specific time period. For example; "normal and casual" costumes in the 90's would be much different to costumes in the 10's, purely because of changes and different trends in the fashion industry.

As you can see, in the 90's costumes were much more eccentric and "punk"especially hair and makeup. They also mostly consist of bright colors and are very big. The costumes were era appropriate, just as the costumes in the 10's were. Costumes in the 10's are much more casual and look comfortable to wear. additionally colours are much more neutral.
