Camera - shots, angles & movement

                                Shots

                                Shots

Our music video mainly consists of the following shots:

  1. close-up

  2. mid-shot

  3. point of view shot

  4. medium close up

  5. extreme close up

  6. long-shot

  7. over the shoulder shot

I will be speaking about some of these shots in detail.

                                                                                  1) Close-Up

Close-ups are one of the most common types of shots in music videos as they are helpful when showcasing emotions and face details. Our music video probably uses close-ups the most as well as mid shots. The song itself is very emotional and we needed to display the actresses emotion to make the viewer keep watching. Here are some snapshots from our music video:

                                                                                  1) Mid-Shot

                                                                                  1) Mid-Shot

Mid-shots are also very important shots as they feel more natural to the viewer. They show the background and also display the actress's body language and facial expressions. It was very important that we show the actresses body language too as that can have a big effect on how the viewer sees the actress and her emotions.

                                                                                  3) long -Shot

Long shots show the background in more detail and can also display the actress's body language and facial expressions. Long shots were mainly used in the forest to make it clear there was a scene change. It was first used as an establishing shot at the beginning of the music video.

                                                                    4) Over the shoulder Shot

The over the shoulder shot is mainly used when two characters are having a conversation but we did not use it this way. Instead we showed her applying lipstick in a mirror, from over the shoulder. We though this would be a more creative way to shoot such a simple task. In addition, it could be inferred that she's about to "speak to herself" perhaps like a pep talk etc, or even prepareing herself for the day.

                               Angles

Majority of the shots we took were at eye-level but a few shots were at high angle and one was low.

                             Low-Angle                                                Eye-Level                                               High-Angle

                            Movement

Movement was kept to a minimum as it was very difficult but we managed to keep some shots we used with stabiliser. Camera movement shots include; pan, tilt, handheld and tracking shot.

                                                                                        Pan

                                                                                         Tilt

                                                                                    Handheld

                                                                                    Tracking
